whispering words of wisdom
let it be, let it be
So how does this apply to flowers? Last Thursday we had the wonderful treat of making over a hundred flower arrangements for the Neiman Marcus gala opening in Walnut Creek. The bouquets needed to be simple and gorgeous, so we found seasonal beauties...ranunculus, anemones, freesia, sweetpeas, fringed tulips and flowering branches...peach, quince, nectarine. Because the flowers were so exquisite, we let them "speak for themselves". No complicated arrangements, just one kind of flower in a simple glass vase. The store has a retro look, so we decided to go with square and rectangular vases.
a special shout out to Santa Clarita Flowers and Torchio Nursery for coming through once again. Thank you guys.
We wheeled our cart of flowers throughout the store, distributing bouquets to bars and cocktail tables that were setup for the occasion.
The store opened for shoppers the next day. NM staff placed the bouquets around the store:
Carolyn sent me these photos on opening day, taken with her old phone (just before she got a new one!). The photos above were taken with my iphone4 camera. I'm amazed by the quality. I heard that Annie Lebovitz claims it to be the best point and shoot camera on the market today. Yay Apple!
A special thank you to Carolyn and Mary for all your help. And of course, to the wonderful staff at Neiman Marcus. The day after, I received this email:
And the flowers were such a show stopper!! Just perfection!! Everyone commented and just loved them soooo much. I can not thank u all enough for all the hard work and beauty u brought to the event. They were the icing on the cake!! Just breathtaking!!
